Monica Larner is a wine critic and author based in Rome. She is the Italian Reviewer for The Wine Advocate and RobertParker.com, the bimonthly wine publication and website founded by wine critic, Robert Parker. In 2003, Larner was selected to be the very first dedicated Italian wine editor for Wine Enthusiast. She is also a two-time winner of the Best Young Journalist of the Year (2008, 2010), one of the top honors given out yearly at the VinItaly exposition. In 2012, Larner won Best International Journalist also presented by the Comitato Grandi Cru d'Italia panel at VinItaly. Through her work at The Wine Advocate, Larner's opinion on Italian wines is often cited by mainstream media publications like Forbes and Newsweek.She has been described by Robert Parker as "...one of the most comprehensive writers of Italian wines out there."

Born in Barbaresco in 1958, the year in which Produttori del Barbaresco was founded, Aldo grew up in Alba and spent his summers as a teenager helping his uncles in the Barbaresco vineyards. His great-grandfather was among the 9 farmers that joined in the first wine cooperative in Barbaresco, the “Cantine Sociali del Castello” founded in 1894 by Domizio Cavazza, the man that is known as the “father of Barbaresco”. Both his grandfathers were among the 19 farmers who founded Produttori del Barbaresco in1958 and his father was the winery general manager from 1958 to 1984. Two of his cousins are current members of the Produttori. Aldo graduated from University of Torino in 1982, Viticulture Department with a thesis on the “Clonal Selection of the Nebbiolo Grape” and spent 6 month after his graduation at UC Davis as a visiting student in the Viticultural Department. From 1986 to 1990, he worked at the Gaja Winery as a right hand man for Mr. Angelo Gaja, mainly in public relation. Aldo has been part of the Produttori del Barbaresco since 1991, first as the export manager, and then took on the role of managing director in 1997. His background, knowledge and passion makes him an international ambassador of Barbaresco.
