Stephan Reinhardt
Wine Advocate Reviewer
Stephan, born 1967 in Düsseldorf, is a German journalist who began to specialize in wine in 1999/2000 after a decade of studying and teaching theatre science at Münch University in the morning and selling wine in a wine shop in the afternoon. Initially he wrote about theatre and music but after the translation of Oz Clarke's Wine Encyclopedia, Stephan started to write about wine daily for sueddeutsche.de, the online platform of the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Stephan has since published numerous articles for renowned daily and weekly German newspapers such as Süddeutsche Zeitung and Welt am Sonntag as well as for monthly German, Austrian, and Swiss wine and lifestyle magazines such as Der Feinschmecker, Falstaff, and Fine – das Weinmagazin. In 2008 Stephan became chief editor of the Swiss/German newsletter Weinwisser; four years later he took the same position at Vinum, whose 10 issues per year are published in Zurich/Switzerland but distributed also in Germany and Austria. Besides this he has contributed to The World of Fine Wine regularly since 2004. Stephan covers the wine regions of Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as Alsace, Champagne and the Loire valley.
Jean-Rene Germainer and Gilles Besse
Owner, Winemaker
Jean-René Germanier and his nephew Gilles Besse are the third and fourth generation to maintain this tradition. Their single aim is to produce top-quality wines that are an authentic reflection of the Valais soil and its Mediterranean climate. They know that everything depends on the grapes, which explains why they personally visit every plot each year. This means they have a close relationship with the wine-growers, requiring them to produce limited harvests and maintain environmentally-friendly cultivation processes, according to the Vitival standards.
Georg Fromm
Owner
Although he came from a family of winemakers, Georg Fromm followed an unusual path. After producing his first vintage in the Graubunden in 1970, he moves with his family to New Zealand in the 90s. When he returns to Switzerland, the wines he produces stand out immediately for their elegance and subtlety. This quality is achieved thanks to Georg’s passion for his vineyards. From the vine to the development of its wines, he is constantly in search of harmony. Vinotiv Member.
Martin & Thomas Donatsch
Owners
Thomas Donatsch, who is recognised as a pioneer of Swiss wines, started to raise the quality of his wines to an international standard early in his life. During his vocational training as a vintner and winemaker with several wine-growing estates in Australia, South Africa, Bordeaux and Spain, Heidi and Thomas's eldest son Martin acquired many new ideas. After he returned home to Malans, he successfully integrated this in depth knowledge with tried and tested methods. Martin is convinced that the Bündner Herrschaft is amongst the best Pinot regions in the world and is sure that its potential is by no means exhausted.
James Paget & Alexandre Challand
Founders
This estate of four hectares was born in 2007 following the passion of four friends to the great wines of the world. Four accomplices, four musketeers somehow ... driven by the desire to produce great wines in these beautiful lands. This area wanted to develop know-how inspired by tradition constantly in search of perfection: the old methods are transcended to express the quintessence of each variety on each terroir.
